Enter FAUSTUS to conjure.
FAUSTUS. Now that the gloomy shadow of the earth, Longing to view Orion's drizzling look, Leaps from th' antartic world unto the sky, And dims the welkin with her pitchy breath, Faustus, begin thine incantations, And try if devils will obey thy hest, Seeing thou hast prayed and sacrificed to them. Within this circle is Jehovah's name, Forward and backward anagrammatized, Th' abbreviated names of holy saints, Figures of every adjunct to the heavens, And characters of signs and erring stars, By which the spirits are enforced to rise: Then fear not, Faustus, but be resolute, And try the utmost magic can perform.-- Sint mihi dei Acherontis propitii! Valeat numen triplex Jehovoe! Ignei, aerii, aquatani spiritus, salvete!

i think this scene is a brilliant place to really explore sounds other that just the sounds of language. Christie mentioned that light and sound were massively crucial pieces of artu. theatre. maybe you would enjoy the kurogo moving through the audience / back stage/ whatever creating sounds of hell coming from the outside world into the cube as faust summons them forth.

YES, I love it. For some reason I hear those tubes you wave around in the air (I forget what they are called) they make that spooky, low-toned whistle sound? And I imagine the kurogo all around the audience and making waves of that sound... And white screen noise from a television... with little voices breaking through that may not be quite human...

I could imagine some butoh performance here as well! Ww sould ask ourselves: what is a ritual? what for do we need them? what is the result of it? what would be a ritual in 2012 NYC? how can we try to communicate with the other world? etc.

Well lets look also at the feeling you get not having sound or visual. Silence and darkness without any explanation is quite disturbing, especially if it lasts beyond that level of tolerance. Bringing the audience to the point were they are like "WTF is the show over lets go." Then at that very moment just overwhelm them with sound. It could be anything, jibberish , alarms anything. Silence, darkness and the timing are powerful tools at our disposal.

I also love the sound of whispering in the dark. I think it's cool to play with sound and lights here but we don't wanna get too cheesy halloween-y Know what I mean?
I love the whistle sound those make.

''For Artaud, as we know, art was always indistinguishable from magic. If we fail to get clear what ‘magic’ meant to him, however, we shall be liable to invent completely chimerical connections between Artaud and the cabbala, or the Tarot, orastrology, or alchemy and so on. All his life long, Artaud had an insatiable curiosity about the occult sciences and, over the years, he absorbed anextraordinary amount of knowledge about Eastern religions, esoteric practices, magical rites and alchemy.'' We might want to look into the religious ritual ( Since Jehovah and Orion's names are mentioned ) /Magical aspect of this moment ?
